Today we had our first proper Circle Time.
All the Kowhai students arrived at school to find all the chairs and stools arranged in a very large circle - Miss Lyall wasn't even sure we had 29 chairs/stools in the room to begin with!
Our names were written on Post-its and stuck to the chair we had to sit on. But we didn't stay on that seat for very long! We soon got muddled up by playing the swapping game - Miss Lyall would say
"If you are wearing a polar fleece stand up and swap" or "If you have a younger sister stand up and swap".
Soon we were all muddled up - and that's where our Post-It names came in - we had to write a positive, specific comment about the name of the person whose Post-It we ended up sitting on. We weren't allowed to just say "You're a great friend" we had to think carefully about the person we were writing about. It was tricky for some of us but we did a great job. Look at all of the great compliments we came up with!
Then we had "Around The Circle" talk time - today we shared what we liked about Weedons School. There were some really great ideas - Miss Lyall was impressed with the thinking that everyone did!
Finally we got to finish off with a game - our favourite Circle game - Eyes Down, Eyes Up - that we learnt when Harold the Giraffe visited us. It's a game that helps us remember to use the Weedons Way value of HONESTY
